Leigh Anne Wassem is a founding partner of Retureta & Wassem, PLLC, and is the firm’s managing partner. In addition, Ms. Wassem leads Retureta & Wassem’s civil litigation group, which provides representation for client’s with multi-million dollar disputes as well as counsel for white-collar criminal exposure. Ms. Wassem is also Retureta & Wassem’s lead appellate attorney, and recognized for her legal research and briefing expertise.
Ms. Wassem also manages the firm’s effort to provide pro bono services to the community. Whether an individual in need, or small business taking its first steps, Ms. Wassem garners the resources of Retureta & Wassem to deliver effective legal counsel and results.
Ms. Wassem leads and participates in the creation and management of diverse trial and appellate teams. She has served as lead and co-counsel in several large-scale criminal and civil litigation cases. Ms. Wassem is recognized for her writing ability, expertise, and a breadth of legal skill across a wide range of legal issues in varied venues. She advises clients and offers potent defense on appellate and Constitutional issues, including prosecutorial misconduct, Brady v. Maryland litigation, post-conviction relief.
Ms. Wassem began her legal career in private practice as a civil litigator. Later, she served as General Counsel for Proactive HR Management, whose clients included Fortune 100 companies. She then left her position as General Counsel to co-found Retureta & Wassem, PLLC.
Ms. Wassem was born in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania and raised in New York. She received a B.A. in Political Science from Fairfield University in Connecticut and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C.
